Privacy Policy
Effective date: 15 June 2026. Last updated: 10 October 2026.
This policy applies to MapsPin, a Safari Web Extension for iPhone, iPad and Mac, its container app, and this website. MapsPin is developed by Krzysztof Orłowski, operating under the eris.one brand, who is responsible for it under data protection law.
In short
MapsPin does not collect, store, transmit or share any personal data. The extension works entirely on your device. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no servers of ours involved. Only this website uses Google Analytics, and only if you agree (see “This website”).
What MapsPin does
MapsPin adds a Maps tab and an “Open in Maps” button to Google Search results. When you tap one of them, it turns your search into a link to Google Maps or Apple Maps, depending on the maps app you chose.
What the extension reads on your device
- The address of the current Safari tab, when it is a Google Search page.
- The search query in that address, used to build the maps link.
- The layout of the Google Search page, used only to place the button over the map preview.
- Your choice of maps app (Google Maps or Apple Maps), saved in Safari’s local extension storage on your device.
This information never leaves your device through MapsPin. The extension does not access your browsing history, cookies, passwords, location, contacts, camera, microphone, files or any other personal information.
Permissions
- Google Search pages only: the extension runs only on
www.google.<country>/searchand on no other website. - activeTab: access to the current tab only while you use the extension.
- storage: saving your choice of maps app locally on your device.
Sharing and third parties
MapsPin does not send any data to the developer or to anyone else. It does not include third party services, libraries, SDKs, analytics tools, advertising networks or crash reporters.
When you tap the Maps tab or the “Open in Maps” button, the place opens in Google Maps or Apple Maps, with your search in the link. This happens only because you tapped it. From that moment the privacy policy of Google or Apple applies to your use of their service.
The MapsPin app
The MapsPin app on your iPhone, iPad or Mac only shows how to switch the extension on in Safari. It does not collect any data either.
This website
This website uses Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited) only if you agree in the cookie banner, to count visits and see which pages are read. With your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), Google Analytics sets cookies such as _ga and receives your IP address, device and browser details and the pages you visit. Google may process this data outside the EU under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and keeps it for at most 14 months. Without your consent the analytics script is not loaded at all. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page. If you pick a language, your browser remembers that choice locally. Like most web servers, our hosting provider VH.pl (Prociv Sp. z o.o., Wrocław, Poland) keeps standard technical logs (for example IP address and time of the request) for security and operation, based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), and deletes them automatically after a short time. These logs are not used to identify or profile visitors.
Your rights
Because the MapsPin app and extension do not collect or process personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, export or delete. For the website data described above you have all your rights under the GDPR, including the right to object at any time to the processing of server logs (Art. 21 GDPR). If you have questions, write to us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in Poland the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
Children
MapsPin is rated 4+ and does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date.
